Though I bought the 5 CD original master set recently, is one of those albums that I return to, because maybe, it encapsulates the best of Weather Report. Not all their best work, obviously, that wouldn't be possible but the range of moods, tempos and compositions really do show them at their best/5().

Weather Report is generally regarded as the greatest jazz fusion band of all time, with the biggest jazz hit ("Birdland") from the best jazz fusion album ('s Heavy Weather). But the group's studio mastery sometimes overshadows the fact that it was also a live juggernaut -- so don't overlook the outstanding live and studio album from , /

Sep 19,  · The live album, "" is an exception, as Weather Report lost little of their impact on live gigs over the years. This is when the present offering comes in useful; most if the second and third CDs consists of key post tracks, and could be all that is required from this period/5(56).

It took five years for sound recordist extraordinaire Chris Watson to come up with a follow-up to the CD Outside the Circle of Fire. Weather Report was worth the wait. Again, Watson delivers a platter of amazing sounds. He is not a field recording purist, but he doesn't turn his prime materials into abstract sound art, either.9/

Jun 26,  · Weather Report was an influential jazz fusion band of the s and s, one of the bands that defined the genre. Their initial style was collectively improvised free jazz with a strong rhythmic pulse and Latin influences; moving into more funk-oriented kinapgaphomadop.bobscompthekusineticconfransrolltorre.co sound also developed from an acoustic lineup to increasingly synthesised textures as keyboardist Joe Zawinul embraced .

Jun 12,  · Jazz fusion legends Weather Report will have a Live In London set released on CD for the very first time, on the Angel Air/Store For Music label on July The press information that Prog received simply states: "The exact details around the gig seem to be lost in the mist of time, though it was at some point in the 80s!" Weather Report only payed four London dates in the 80s - at Hammersmith.
